so incredibly

proud of myself.

i finished my homework!
as a celebratory experience, i will eat some ramen with egg in it! woo!

since none of u can participate with me, here is your reward:
you get to read part of my homework thats due tomorrow.

this is my lab summary on nerve potential and conduction velocity:

After conducting the nerve potential experiment, we then calculated our threshold value, which was 250 mV, our maximal response voltage, which was 10,000 mV, and also the conduction velocity, which was 20 m/s. The threshold voltage value means that it took 250 mV for a noticeable nerve response. In the individual nerve cells in a nerve bundle, the reduced voltage causes sodium gates in that region of the membrane to open briefly. Sodium ions are rushed into the cell, which depolarizes the membrane. This is called an action potential. The maximal response value means that it is the highest voltage you can obtain with that particular nerve for it to respond with an electric impulse, without frying it or overwhelming it. In the individual neurons in the nerve bundle, this means that even if we increased stimulation, it will not create a larger response in the nerve because there are no more axons available that will react due to an increased voltage or electrical impulse. The conduction velocity is how fast the nerve potential travels down the nerve. In the individual neurons in a nerve bundle, it is how fast a signal (a electric impulse) can run down the entire length of the nerve, or to a fixed recording point on that nerve. The conduction velocity we found applies to all of the cells in the nerve bundle because we took a general overall recording of the nerve potential. If we had a smaller probe or recording device to insert into a single nerve cell, we would have been able to recording the conduction velocity for a single cell, and also the same would apply to multiple cells if we had multiple extremely small recording electrodes. Also, the recorded nerve potential waves are diphasic in nature because we used two different types of electrodes, one negative and one positive, accounting for the positive “hill” and the negative “valley”. Lastly, if we were to crush a distal portion of the nerve a monophasic wave would appear because the negative recorder would be the last electrode in the sequence, so it would be blocked. The nerve tissue would be dead and the impulse could not be conducted in the negative part, only a positive response would show making it monophasic.

and this is my learning journal for ear training:

This week, we continued to do harmonic and melodic dictation. I again continued to practice at the same times, which was on my way to my classes (for 5-10 mins), and also on Sunday, probably maybe for 10-15 min. I didn’t work with anyone for my own practice time, but I did come in for help on Wednesday with Professor Thompson. What we worked on was the process of melodic and harmonic dictation, and the process of doing harmonizing 4-part harmony . I do not find harmonic and melodic dictation especially difficult, but there are those times when we have to write in a different key that what is actually played, which is VERY frustrating =). But nonetheless, I might need some more work in that area and should focus on doing dictation in a methodical process instead of being lazy and relying solely on my ear, or rather perfect pitch. I should listen to the excerpt, write down the scale degrees and rhythm, and then translate them into the proper key. The only time I used the Ottman this week was to look over the new rhythmic patterns because we have a performance hearing coming up next week.

anyway, have to go eat my wonderful food at 1 am that i prepared using my awesome culinary skills called water
and a microwave:

fruit and cream oatmeal with nutella. <---new fav. snack, and shin ramen with 2 boiled eggs

random: i thought this was funny, i took a screen shot a week or two ago and its been on my desktop ever since staring at me haha

  1. no one cares about your stupid lab reports.

and i'm sorry, but you need to shut your pie hole because you don't know anything about fashion. Its supposed to be a 40s pin-up type bathing suit. its also supposed to look sailor-ish, so thats what the colors are for.

not all of us only consider spider man paraphernalia to be fashionable. XD
