one of my pet peeves is:

when people are intolerant of other types of music. the other types or genres dont have to be your favorite, but you can at least respect them in relation to the people that enjoy listening to that type.

i like all types of music minus the typical hardcore country or heavy metal. those types are wayyy to much for me. now im going to introduce or state another type of music that ALOT of people like. jazz. i totally respect people who love jazz and those that play it, but to me ALOT of jazz loves and musicians are really closed minded to other types of music. they also have a habit of saying that jazz theory is the king of all theory and that this type is the most complex. i guess thats their opinion but i really dislike it when they state that as fact and beat it over the heads of people. like i said, i respect jazz, and although its not nearly my favorite, i do enjoy listening to a good majority of jazz music.

with that said, now for the rant part:

please don't beat it over the heads of people that jazz is the best or most complex music. and yes attempting to rub it in people's faces that like other genres of music counts also, or saying that their music sucks or whatever. if ANYTHING especially do NOT try to beat over classical music. it is KING of all music. its been there for FAR longer than jazz has even dreamt of being. 400+ years, and its STILL going pretty strong. also, have u seen jazz artists/musicians payroll compared to that of a good classical player? i dont care if youre the best and most well paid famous jazz player, you are NOT gonna even make anything comparable or get as good of gigs as classical musicans. and do they build multi-million dollar concert halls for jazz musicians? hell no, its for classical, or it was built for the intention of classical musicans. also, jazz theory, actually in fact ALL music theory is based off of classical theory. all western music has its roots in classical theory, so don't think you made up something totally new, its not by FAR. as to complex, i have to admit jazz is unique and can be difficult to analyze, but im sorry. you cannot compare to classical. classical is the most complex form of music you will ever hear or see. the range of emotion, moods, tones, experiences that one can perceive from both hearing and even just analyzing it is tremendous. no other form of genre will ever be able to compare with it. have you ever listened to lizst, prokofiev, debussy, or brahms works? yeah try and touch that jazz. some of the most successful people in the pop industry have had classical backgrounds, for example lady gaga. EVERY musician no matter what genre can admit that classical training has the best method for technique and also for just a general foundation. like i said above, i respect and like jazz. but don't think its anything to classical. and no im not closed minded musically. i really do listen to a ton of other genres. but until you have listened, analyzed, and immersed yourself into classical, you don't have the right to beat on it and say its not as good. because, honestly in every aspect, its BETTER. no one who has done all those things (classical musicians i suppose essentially) will ever admit any other music type is more complex or more emotional. no one.

okay thats my mean rant. time for bed for real
