1. my photo book final has arrived today, 2 DAYS earlier than it said it would. so far im pretty excited about it and the only complaint i have is that its smaller than i expected. its the size i ordered of course, but idk. just seems SMALL. its a 8x10 but in my mind a 8x10 was like a 11x14 or something. oh well. turned out real nice. heres a preview of the front and back:
2. i recently had a confrontation with the string department about a issue. Next semester, Almita Vamos is coming to teach a 5 hour master class here. Shes super high end and is considered one of the best violin teachers in the country (she teaches at northwestern university in chicago, a top 10 school). Being so, I asked the violin professor here and she said i cannot play for her since i am a cellist. all sobbing and anger aside, she called me later and told me that next semester i will be having TWO special master classes for me. a cellist from eastman (really really good music school), and another cellist from around michigan. since theres only 2 real cello majors, im kinda excited that i get that much attention. things really do work out in the end.
3. things in music are going pretty well. im feeling really confident about my concerto, and will plan to enter it in the young artist's competition next semester. i REALLY REALLY plan to win this time. hopefully i do. alot of the music professors are encouraging me to audition so i better bring it.
4. today i received a call from a unknown person who has gotten my contact info from another person. anyway, long story short, this guy wants me to be part of a starting up nternational touring men's singing group. this group will tour anything from london to south africa and does video shoots and studio recordings. im kinda excited and nervous at the same time because, i havent sang since high school. the songs theyre singing consist of acapella songs also, and although i have no trouble with rhythm or singing at all, im not exactly sure if my voice can come up to par with these people. they havent even heard me so idk why im even being considered. but i guess its for a reason right? also im nervous because this group practices very intensely because the members are from all over so we only practice once or twice b4 a performance, meaning those practices are INTENSE! im also nervous because im pretty bz and since they go on tours, how am i expected to just drop school, or how to i make up for all that lost time? im afraid ill just be having to say no over and over again. i dont like disappointing people. anyway here are two songs im suppose to learn and memorize by friday? well see. im nervous for the reals.
